Default 1998 Club Car won't move.

I have a 1998 Club Car 48v Fairway Villager it won't move. Serial # is D9813. The battery charger works. When you push the pedal it acts like it wants to move but can't. The batteries came out of a running cart and test 50 volts. It has a f & r lever. I swapped the controller out of a running cart and did not change anything. The reverse beeper works and the headlights works. Any ideas ?

Sounds like a battery dropping out under load. I would do a load test of each battery. Hook your DVM to each battery individually and press the pedal.

Sounded like controller - but you did that. And if the batteries came out of a "very recently" working cart - then my money's on:

A) a loose/corroded connection somewhere in the "go" circuit
B) the MCor/Pot box and/or it's connector.

Thank for the fast reply. When I put the volt meter on one battery and push the pedal the volts don't change. It was the same for all 6 batteries. And these batteries just worked today in the same kind of cart.

1 other solution to check, a bad solenoid.

If it's acting like it wants to go, that could very well be current passing through the resistor on top of the solenoid, but the solenoid not activating to move the cart. Have a solenoid to swap out?

I do have one I can put in and try. Is there a way to test it before I swap them.

What should I look for in the mcor or pot box. Are there any test for them?

Here's a link to a good forum review of that: Testing MCor

1998 could be a Pot Box, though - that's right close to when CC switched. I don't really know how to do that (someone here does), but I do know that they can be opened and adjusted/inspected (unlike MCor).
