Alltrax DCX500 = No Difference?
So I successfully install my Alltrax DCX500 last week. After driving around for a bit with some friends nobody can tell much of a difference in torque or top speed. I went from the stock Curtis 250AMP.
My current set up is the following: Plum Quick Bandit (Purple Motor) Alltrax DCX 500 Stock Solenoid (I have a HD one on my desk) Stock Cabling I know that going to 4ga cable and the HD solenoid are going to help but should I really not be getting any difference at this point? |

Top speed probably won't be affected but the torque certainly should be much better. You need to change the cables ASAP. What condition and age are the batteries? How do you have the programming set on the DCX500?

Re: Alltrax DCX500 = No Difference?
Batteries are a couple years old but ran great on stock controller set up. I have the amp turned all the way up, linear throttle, throttle down at 3 (gave me best smooth take off). The throttle is reading at 100%. Not sure what the dealio is, anyone else running a similar set-up?

All the amperage to the motor runs through the solenoid, controller, F&R, and the cables. Flow rate is critical to torque production. Restriction in any component will diminish performance.

Re: Alltrax DCX500 = No Difference?
My Precedent ran almost 30 MPH with stock everything, except HS motor. Now it runs over 30 MPH with 500 amps, 2 AWG cables, Super Duty solenoid and 14" wheels. Your Bandit should run at least 22 MPH. I would look at battery health or dragging brakes.
BTW, what is your top speed? |

Re: Alltrax DCX500 = No Difference?
I successfully installed my HD solenoid. Smoother take off and better feel at low acceleration points. However, I would say just a slight increase in torque, top speed stayed the same. I just can't figure out why this new controller wouldn't give me a majorly noticeable more amount of torque. Maybe Plum Quick is just that good so I already had a lot more torque even with the stock controller

Re: Alltrax DCX500 = No Difference?
Here is something to consider. Suppose at your house you have a 100amp service. Then say you upgraded to a 200amp service. Does your 100 watt light bulbs glow brighter. No. Now does upgrading to a 500amp controller make your 2500watt motor run any faster?

Re: Alltrax DCX500 = No Difference?
I like this example. But why would people, including those at Alltrax, tell me there should be a very noticeable difference?

Change the cables, all of them. What you are doing is like trying to ram a potato thru a drinking straw. It takes all the correct components working together to get performance.
