I just install a cheep volt meter in my 2005 precedent!!!
I wired it to a toggle switch under the dash so I can have it on or off at any time.
votmeter $5
toggle switch $3
total $8

what voltage are you guys recharging your carts at?
it's a 48 volt cart with six 8 volt trojan T-875 batteries.

The voltage yours shows is full charge and that is exactly what it charges at. Then the charger will **** off and come back on as it needs to tend.

recharge before meter hits 48.5v
your meter will read up to 62+ v before it shuts off
then after 12hrs rest it should drop to 50.93 for 100% charge

your meter shows over charge if reading is after 12hrs or meter is off ... best to check with DVM meter

not so ... most golf cart chargers shut off and do not restart or tend the batteries
the cheep E-BAY meters are ok , but i've seen them fail in wet weather

Crash is right, the cheap meters are not sealed, so don't get them wet!
The Powerdrive chargers will check the pack every 15 days and recharge as needed, so it's not really a tender...

That is true. I used the wrong term. I meant it will recharge as needed but you are right...that's not "tending" the batteries.

I have the same cheapass meter on my cart. Had it on for two years and never had a problem. I wash the cart and I drive in the rain when I have no choice and it has never let me down. I also installed a digital cheapo thermometer for the same price.

If I was to do it again, I would buy a quality meter that I could read in bright daylight. I still get compliments on my Chinese made junk one though.
