I had to give it a try.
I think I read too much. I just had to try the speed code 5 programmer.
I just finished installing it on my cart. The torque mode on it does not seem to do anything except slow my cart down, I have two different controllers, I removed the one that has speed code 4, and installed the one that had speed code 3. I installed the speed code 5 on it this afternoon. Before I was going 15 to 16 on level ground. With the torque program I only get 13.3, it does not seem to help over stock going up hill. I use the same run up the hill for all my test, and the same for down hill and level. Torque speed at the top of hill was 12.2 Stock speed at the top of the hill was 11.9 High speed setting at the top of hill was 12.1 I am using a Garmin aviation GPS. Pretty good quality gps. Now for the down hill. Torque speed was 14.2 down hill Stock speed was 16 down hill High speed was, under stand this is down hill, it scared the s..t out of me. 35 mph down hill. High speed level ground was 22 to 23.5 All this was after playing 18 holes of golf. If this thing does not hold up I Will post the problems. Carl |

Re: I had to give it a try.
It is faster than my other controller with code 4. It seems like it would keep gaining speed if the motor had more hp. The claim is this thing is suppose to give you 20% more torque. I really cannot say its just not enough for me to notice. Like I think Scotty B said like having 200 mph cut out with a 25 hp motor in a U go.
I wander if I could get one of those 5 hp motors I've seen. Nah it is plenty fast to play golf with. |

Re: I had to give it a try.
CTD, I'll have to take it to the top of the same hill and put the cart in tow and see how fast it will go down this hill.

Re: I had to give it a try.
A word of caution is needed here... These motors will grenade if you exceed reasonable rpms. I'm not going to put a number on it for several reasons but, I can tell you that if you run that top speed test again and it does not explode or lock up the rear end then you got lucky twice.

Re: I had to give it a try.
What is the rated rpm on my stock motor. Also how much over did I let it get to.
At 35 mph. This programmer does leave the roll away braking, and pedal up braking, somewhat. I have only used it for about 20 minutes so far. I'll play that four letter word Again tomorrow. Should give me more of a feel how it is going to work out. |

Re: I had to give it a try.
Now that you have all speed restrictions removed, for your motor safety you should not exceed 3-4 mph faster than your flat ground speed.
