Default 1990 Club Car DS Conversion

I am thinking about converting the 90 36v cart to a 48v system via ScottyB's conversion kit number C42. Here's my question. For this cart, is it worth it? I would keep it stock for now. I realize I would need a charger for 48v and a fourth 12v battery(don't know where to put that). I wonder if it is worth doing for a 1990 cart, especially when the conversion is almost $1,000 with everything I need.

Depends on the condition of the cart mainly. If its nice, I'm sure it's worth it...

The frame has to be welded in about 7 spots. Other than that, it is a good cart.

Sounds like a good project! Strip it down, weld it up, install new electronics and there ya go...

Is the 36v system worth keeping in the cart if conversion is almost $1,000. Also, would I need to buy a charger for the 48v and a heavier F/R switch?

How much of the $1K is the conversion (not including batteries) is just the actual hardware needed for the 36v to 48V convert? Im looking at what I believe is a 36V and it needs a new pack. The thought crossed my mind, why not convert to 48V if im already buying batteries.

Yes you would need a 48v charger and a HD FR switch. Scottyb sells a DPI (smart charger) and the HD switches. You will see great performance increase with the 48v setup...

The kit has everything you need but the HD F/R switch, Cable set, and charger. BUT, the $1000 number includes everything but the charger.
Kit=$669
Cables=$238
Switch=$59
Charger=$285
