Dim Headlights and Tail Lights, No Turn sSgnals
I could use some advice. My Club Car headlights are dim and so are my rear lights. When I step on the brake, the rear lights are bright. My turn signals do not work. My horn also is not working. It is a 2001 Club Car.
I replaced all six batteries in May. Have not had the cart out since and today discovered this problem. Can anyone suggest what I should look for? Thanks, Bill Last edited by wtodd1; 11-17-2013 at 12:17 AM.. Reason: addition |

Did they work properly before and then after the battery changeout?

Are they hooked up to 12 volts or only to one battery (6 volts)?

Re: Dim Headlights and Tail Lights, No Turn sSgnals
Thanks Steve. I put the new batteries in in May. As far as I remember, all things were working well. I have had it out only one time since and that was in the daytime so did not use the lights. It is a 48 volt system. When I bought this cart it was modified so I am at a loss as to where to look for a voltage reducer. It has a faux wood dash which I have unscrewed and wondered if there is a fuse somewhere in that area? I charged the cart all night and the front lights look a little brighter but still no horn, back lights are really dim, horn and turn signals still do not work. I have my battery installation diagram out and thought I should retrace my steps when I installed the new ones. They Trojan 8V batteries and there are 6 of them. I am sorry I am at such a loss but I have never owned a cart prior to this one. Thanks! Bill

Re: Dim Headlights and Tail Lights, No Turn sSgnals
Thanks for your reply. I honestly do think everything was working perfectly prior to putting in the new batteries in May. I have only had the cart out once since then and it was daylight so I did not use the lights. Only noticed this yesterday. It is a wonderful modified cart so I am at a loss of where to look for a voltage reducer, fuses etc. I charged the cart overnight and the front lights are a little brighter, back lights very very dim, and, I still have no horn or turn signals. The new batteries are Trojan and there are 6 of them as this is a 48 volt system. Thanks, Bill

. . . post a couple of pics of your battery compartment so we can look at the wires/cables there . . .

Re: Dim Headlights and Tail Lights, No Turn sSgnals
Here is where things stand this AM. My rear tail lights and headlights are only getting 3.5 volts. I found the voltage reducer which is mounted on the frame behind the batteries. The fuse tested good. I am posting a couple of pictures, please let me know if you need more. Thanks! Bill

Re: Dim Headlights and Tail Lights, No Turn sSgnals
Attaching photos in larger format....Additional photo shows the best view I can get while laying under the cart of the connections on the end of the reducer.
In the picture of the reducer you can see it is the light metal on the right side of the picture.. The connectors are on the left end of the reducer, as pictured. Is there a way to actually check the reducer? The fuse inside it is good. Thanks Again, Bo;; |
