Default Jump start???

Long story, but just had to jump start my truck using my 48v DS. Connected to 3 of the bats. Truck started right away. Jumper cables got very hot.
So..... How much damage did I do???

Well you doubled the voltage of the truck...
If the cart still runs, probably no damage.

I jumpstarted a semi with a parcar (8x 6v system)...way to go! Your battery in the truck probaly wasnt happy. Its all good, probably no damage done. Another good reason to have a big battery bank around. Try not to get too crazy with incorrect voltages (see above)........cops couldnt figure out how to get the truck off the highway, we figured it out.

Would have been better if you had disconnected the pack from the cart.

All good things to consider. Guess I was just caught in the moment' stuck at the hunt lease, just my wife and I and a 4.5 hour drive home.... Had to think fast! Would still be catching hell about it if I didn't get the truck started.... LOL.

I know what you mean!

Like crash said, next time use 2 of the batteries, which is 16v, and is about what the alternator is putting out when you're driving...

I hook up a 36 volt EZ-GO to a 12-G cat motograder with a 24 volt system. 30 volts did not work at first so I went 36 volts. Blew up one of the 4-D batteries when I tried to start it. It started! lol people were amazed what I could jump start with that cart.

I dont know if blowing up batteries would fit into my list of successful stories, but, "if it gets you home"......

Heat is from the current not voltage, if system working right no damage. If you need to do again use 2 batteries.
