What gauge wire to the motor?
I have a 2006 precedent 48v cart all original. I'm replacing my battery leads with 4 gauge wire. What is the size of the wires going to the motor 6 gauge or 4 gauge? I like everything to be 4 gauge going to put a lift on the cart some day.

Re: What gauge wire to the motor?
They should be changed also. The neg to the controller can be a trick. I pulled my old one and used it to measure by. Then put one end on and ran it through the obc, then pulled it out to to battery box as far as it would go before hooking it to the controller. At that point I used a propane torch to heat the lug as I fill it with solder, then put the pre stripped end of the cable into the lug as I held it with vice grip. Now you can route it to the controller and to the neg post on the pack. Wait until you get all the cables installed before you hook it to the battery.
One thing I also done was to paint my other cables like the ones that came out. That way the color codes in the books can still be used. Some people use color tape, but I like the paint better. Takes about 12 hours for them to dry good. |
