1990 Club Car DS Conversion
Instead of converting my 1990 to 48v, I want to convert it to a controller cart. The cart is a 1990 Club Car DS 36v V-Glide resistor cart with one selonoid. What I want to do is convert it to a controller cart and eliminate the resistor coils but using a 36v system. What is needed to do this? How expensive would this be?

Re: 1990 Club Car DS Conversion
Here's the thing, almost $700 is a lot to spend right now. That's why I am wondering if it would be cheaper to get everything myself and figure it out.

Go with the ScottyB conversion. He charges you for the parts. His knowledge is free. Trust me, $700 is cheap for a conversion such as this

I think I am going to piece the kit together myself. What else do I need other than a PB-6 0-5k throttle and a controller?

Re: 1990 Club Car DS Conversion
I just did this, except I went to 48 after not liking the range of my 36. I went for the 700 amp controller because it is a hunting cart. To make it a reliable cart, I think you are going to need the throttle, linkage and hardware, potentiometer, controller, solenoid, 2 or 4 g cables and heavy duty F&R switch.
I am fairly new, so I cannot speak to whether you must have the solenoid, the cables and the F&R switch. However, based on what I know now, I do not know how you would get by without them. I know it's a lot of cash, but if you go with scottyb, you will not be sorry. You will save yourself a ton of headaches. Need info? just email or call him. Need installation instructions? They are included and if not specific enough, again, just email or call him. I cannot say enough about how easy he made it for me. Yeah, I dropped some coin, but I got a great cart for far less money than I could have bought a new or used one. |

Re: 1990 Club Car DS Conversion
If I was buying just the controller and using the V-Glide as the throttle control, would I need to buy a controller set at 0-5k or 5-0k ?

Re: 1990 Club Car DS Conversion
The V-Glide on your 1990 36 Volt cart doesn't have resistors in it to provide you with either of these. 36 Volt V-Glide cars didn't have controllers so these throttle frequencies were unnecessary. To answer your question, it doesn't matter as long as the controller and potentiometer match each other.
