Motor won't run/ wheels won't turn
I have a 93 club car 36v I just got. Put 6 new batteries in it and push the pedal forward and the solenoid clicks, put it in reverse and buzzer comes on but still won't move. I put it in neutral and I can't push the cart at all. I do have 36 volts coming from the battery I also have continuity through solenoid when I push the pedal. Is there a way to check the motor to see if it is bad? I'm gonna check the brakes and make sure they are fine also. The cart has been sitting in a barn for a while. Thanks in advance any information is greatly appreciated.

Re: Motor won't run/ wheels won't turn
Happy Thanksgiving and welcome to BGW!!
Info by Stevegrmich: TEST RUN A MOTOR To test run a series motor Remove all cables from the motor; connect a jumper from A1 to S1. Connect 12 to 24 volts, positive @ A2 and negative @ S2. Swap S1 and S2 to change rotation direction. One note I'd add, make sure the rear of the cart is safely jacked up with the wheels not touching the ground before trying this - it will remove all possibility of you getting run over if the motor does take off spinning. On to my curious questions: Is this 93 cart a controller cart? Also, by not being able to push it do you mean there is excessive brake drag or if you were to try and pull the cart with something would the wheels be locked and drag? If the latter is the case, I'd bet on a shot motor or a VERY badly screwed up rear end. |

Re: Motor won't run/ wheels won't turn
Good morning and happy late thanksgiving, thanks for the replies. I'm gonna try the motor today and see if I can get it to run by doing what you told me on s1 s2 ect. I took the back wheels of last night and I was able to turn it by hand. It did look like the brakes shoes were partially set up. Got them freed up I haven't put the wheels back on yet I'm gonna clean the shoes and hubs up a bit. I will try the motor trick and see what that does. I will keep you posted. I'm gonna try it this morning. Also not sure if it's a controller club car or not. How do I find out? Two of us tried to push the cart before and it wouldn't move, we had to pick up the rear end and push it on the ramp of the trailer. Thanks again talk to you soon.

The cart has a black box it goes into before it goes to the motor. Could this be the controller your asking about? If so is there a way to test this box? Thanks in advance again

Re: Motor won't run/ wheels won't turn
The motor could be locked up. When you test the motor be prepared for a dead short... in which case you will need a quick disconnect.
Maybe put a meter on the pack first and see what kind of voltage drop (if any) you get when you try to go. Not drop? You probably don't have power to the motor.... look at the solenoid activation and controller circuits. Post a serial # so we can know what cart you have. Identify the drive system if its a controller cart, too. |

Re: Motor won't run/ wheels won't turn
Serial # is a94323933306 I must have read it wrong before because I think this means it's a 94 year. The model on the controller is 1204-015 the serial on that is cc33118 says Curtis pmc on it. I just tried hooking cables and jumper to the motor and nothing only a spark when I disconnected it. First tried 6v then tried 24v and the same on both. Pretty sure that means motor is set up. If this is the case is it better to have rebuilt or find one on ebay, ect? Thanks again for all of your help.
