Trojan break in

This would probably apply to all batteries but I bought Trojans. They were cheaper than all the comparable batteries around here and they seem to be what most folks here recommend.

I have put them through the steps of breaking in as ScottyB, CC, the "All about batteries" sticky and everyone else. WOW, what a difference.

Since we got this cart 3 years ago there have been battery issues. We bought this thing used with mismatched batteries. Replaced 1 or 2 under a 6 month warranty. Dealer (non CC) put in "good" used batteries.

Each year after that I have replaced a pair of batteries. This year I have replaced all 4 and you could immediately tell the difference. But the difference is even more pronounced after the break in.

Each day, one of my boys or myself have driven it to run it down to 70% (per ScottyB's gauge) and then charged it up. Each day we drive a little further to use that 30% and it charges back up quicker each day. What more can I say. I person is mentally deprived if they don't follow the break in procedures.

Our cart has more acceleration than ever before.

Now, if you have been following one of my other threads about cables, we may have more acceleration in part due to new cables but I will bet it is primarily due to these batteries because the performance has improved since the break in. We are taking it to the hunting club this weekend and we will see how much better it does then.

Thanks for the post, What Trojan batteries did you purchase. Batteries are on my short list to purchase.

12's I think it is T 1275.

Apparently depending on location and then shipping has a big bearing on prices.

Keep in mind that you can have all the battery you need but if the path is not clear, the electricity does go to well. I found this out with a lose nut on a lug that caused resistance to the flow and the heat from that melted a battery terminal and shorted the battery.
