Default Club Car PowerDrive Plus Question

Is it possible to run the Club Car Powerdrive Plus controller using 36v and using a 36v motor?

Depends on what voltage the controller is. If it says 36-48 then yes I think so... I think PD is 48v though, right?

Yes it is a 48v cart. If the controller is 48v only, would it function with 36v?

I don't think so, but I'm not 100%

Is it worth the gamble of $200 for a PowerDrive plus cart minus batteries & charger?

Something about this whole question sounds odd. Doesn't the "Plus" in Powerdrive Plus imply Sepex/Regen? I know there are no Regen 36v motors....

Honestly, I don't know why Club Car put the Plus in the name as well. If I remember correctly, in the 1990-1995 range, Club Car made the Powerdrive and it was electric but I don't think is was a regen system. My question, is possible to take the controller from a Club Car PowerDrive Plus with regen and run it off of 36v worth of batteries and using a regular 36v from a series cart?

The short answer is no. There is a huge difference between Sepex and series motors. Essentially nothing is compatible between them.

I believe Powerdrive came out in 95 with the 48v carts. And I think you're right that Plus means regen braking. There was Regen I then Regen II. Then they starting using IQ, which is regen with the speed codes. Regen I and II don't have speed codes. After all this came PD2 and 3, which are smaller versions of pretty much the same charger.

As for your question here, it has been answered, series and sepex cannot ever be mixed.
