Question Tow Switch

I have a 2004 precedent club car and I notice that the tow switch was on tow and it was operating in the tow mode. It is not suppose to move while in tow. Why is it doing that?

Does it work when flipped to Run ? If so, you probably have a bad switch. If not, the switch may have gotten reversed.

Yes it does. If it runs in "run", I do not think it is reversed. How do I test the switch to see if it is bad?

flip it to Tow, disconnect the wires from the switch and check for continuity through it with the switch in both directions. One way should have cont and the other should not.

If the switch is not working and I disconnect the wires on the switch, is there a possibility that I may fry the controller? I just had a new one installed. How can I prevent that from happening?

Disconnecting this switch is essentially the same as flipping the switch to Tow so it should be OK. Look for a disconnect plug and just unplug it to test it.

You may also want to check your wiring. If you just replaced the controller something could be wired incorrectly.

I will unplug the switch and test it. I do not know any of the history on this cart, since it was not running when i bought it. I did take it to a mechanic and he was the one that installed the controller. When I discovered that the switch was on tow and it was running that way, I called the mechanic and asked him why it was doing that and he stated the same thing, there might be something wrong with the switch or there might be some wires crossed. He told me to take it back to him. I wanted to save some money and figure it out, but I might fry the controller, so I guess it's back to the shop. Thanks to all for the great information. Happy Holidays.
