Is there any point on a 48v clubcar that the battery voltage is broke when the key switch is in the off position?

Re: Volt meter 48v Clubcar
My interpretive skills are telling me he's asking if the battery GAUGE on the dash is ever "off" when the key is off, or "how do I make the gauge turn off with the key" maybe? I could be wrong, it wouldn't be the first time...
