Check the Serial number of your cart to see if it is an Excel Drive System
PH08XX-XXXXX is Excel
PD08XX-XXXXX is Excel
most others are IQ Systems and you are lucky

Question Re: Get more speed for Club Car Precedent

I am new to the controller type carts and have really found all your post helpful. I have a 2011 Precedent with the Excel controller (stock) and stock 3.3 motor. I have code 4 installed by CC dealer. My speed went from 13mph to 17 mph. Something tells me something is wrong when I see your posts. Most show the stock speed at 14-15 and with the code 4 going to 19-21. With motor change many are going to 21 plus. My 6 batteries are all 2013. Is there any recommendations?

Check your brakes. Look into getting a PQ Motor up grade.

If you have Code 4 you should be at a minimum of 19.6 MPH, as long you don't have dragging brakes and you also have good batteries. When they are charged and after a 12 hour settle down what is your pack voltage, at least 50.8 and hopefully a bit more?

With 22" tires and speed code 3 I get 19.3+. With code 4 or a speed magnet I get 21+. With a PlumQuick motor, I've gotten over 28 MPH with my newest PQ motor, (just installed yesterday and on flat cement surface,) but normally around 25-26 MPH, all of the above using a Garmin.

So you definitely have something wrong with your setup.

I got a question for yall.On my 2006 Precident I have 600amp controller with 2ga cables and 400/1000 solenoid. Also running 24in tires. It will run 28mph now.I am looking at adding the middle grade plumquick motor to the mix. What speed do you think I will get out of it then.

Basically if you're doing 28 MPH with a stock motor and the only difference is your controller, wires and 24" tires I'd say you're already there. Stock motors will get out of the shoot faster with higher amps and eliminate any speed codes determined by a speed sensor. I know that 22" tires with a 350 amp controller took me to 21-22 and 24" tires would give a couple extra miles per hour, but at 28 MPH it's like you already have an upgraded motor. I'd discuss this with PlumQuick and see what they can do for you realistically based on the motor you choose. Good luck.

BTW I did touch 29 MPH yesterday but for the most part mid 28's is what I'm getting with my newest Bandit Motor from PlumQuick, 4 gauge wires and a Curtis 350amp controller and using a 400 amp continuous/1000 amp max solenoid. 22" tires.
