So, do you jump the solenoid and test? Key on, accelerator depressed?
You have a simple system there.....

I was able to jump the solenoid today and the cart worked. Does this mean the new solenoid is bad?

It means only that the solenoid is not working....it may not be getting the electrical signal to operate...Have to tested for pos and neg at the small terminals when the peddle is pushed with the key on.

I found no power at small terminals. I started at the ky switch and followed the voltage to the microswitch on F/R. The top terminal had power with key on, but nothing out lower terminal. With my ohmmeter I checked for an open in the switch-no continuity in any position. I took microswitch apart and the contact looks melted. Is it safe to jump the terminals to check for proper operation? Thanks a bunch!

The micro switch is just a switch so with the cart on blocks ( so no one gets hurt...) Touch the two wires from the micro together with the key on and press the gas...away she goes = you need a $5 microswitch. If she doesn't go I think there is another micro at the throttle positioner.
