electrical accessory issue
Got a Club Car Carry All 1 here with no headlights/horn. Fuse was good, so I hooked up my Power Probe to the last two batteries to see if I had power at the switch. There was. Then I went to the lights and found they had power too, on both wires. Then I went to a bus bar behind the key switch panel where a few black wires were connected and found power there too. So then I touched the aluminum body/frame, and found power there as well. There's power all over the place here. Am I missing something?

Re: electrical accessory issue
pcvst.tech,
We will have to wait untill the pro's chime in, But " So then I touched the aluminum body/frame, and found power there as well" This is not good. There should be no juice readings from the frame! I had this issue once and it was because my motor was going out thus leaking juice to motor casing through rear end to leaf springs to frame. Somthing doesn't sound right on your end. Steve |

Re: electrical accessory issue
so, I removed my probe from the last two batteries, and instead hooked them to the front two, no more power everywhere. Must have been a diagnostic error on my part. now I can see I have no power to the switch. I tried to apply power to the back of the switch to see if I could get the light to come on, and they did, for a second before they both blew out. Now I'm learning fast. each battery is 8 volts on this cart, so the two batteries I've got my probe coming from are giving me 16V, too much for 12V bulbs apparently. So where does this cart get it's 12V for accessories? I found a small black box bolted to the frame right in front of the center batteries with one heavy gauge red wire coming from the 4th battery in, 36V if I've got this right and a group of smaller gauge wires coming out, including the feed for the headlights. Is this some sort of step down transformer for accessories?

It could be a voltage reducer. Steve |

Re: electrical accessory issue
I have owned two reducers a 48 to 12 and a 16 to 12. They were both mounted on the side of the frame channel behind the batts.

Re: electrical accessory issue
I don't think that is a reducer, I think your lights were running off 16 volt. I have run lights off 16 volts before and had no problems other than blowing a bulb sometimes.
