Default '97 Club Car DS Rear End Rattle

Hi All,
I had posted for some help last week on a cart that I'd gotten in a camper sale but that I ended up trading with another guy for a working version of same type.
Anyway, this new one drives perfectly, but there's a rattle sometimes when accelerating, driving, or slowing down. I noticed it's more pronounced and common in reverse and when slightly accelerating. I can also feel it if I rock the car back and forth with everything shut off.
Am I right in thinking it could be that rubber motor shaft thing that I see referenced here and there?

If so, please confirm part/part number and how easy and necessary a job it is.

Thanks!

I've heard some pretty screwed up sounds come out of a differential that needed servicing. Mostly on larger vehicles. Never on a cart.

1997 used a motor guide coupler. These are prone to wear resulting in the type of noise you describe. The guides are still available, however a change to a 2000+ motor would be better for the long run.

How much is a new motor? I wouldn't wasn't to invest much, if anything, into a cart this old. Also, will this cause any damage, or is it just noisy? Finally, a suggestion on where to buy the part/the part number?

Thanks!

The thread is titled wrong, but I think it covers everything you'll need. The part should be called a centering ring and it's made of nylon. There's a link in there to a site sponsor who has them.

Could it possibly be a bad bushing in your shock(s)? I have heard shocks on cars make the same described "rattle" sound when they were old.

Since it does it just pushing back and forth and barely touching the throttle, I don't think it's a shock.

Hi, all: spent some time playing today, and here's some further information: the noise I'm hearing is caused by one of two things, or a combination of both. The first could be the hub cover (the cover that goes over the brakes that the tire bolts stick through) that's rattling (both?) or the hub/axle itself. When I lift the cart off the ground, I can get the noise by spinning one wheel. It feels like there's a bit of play before the thing inside "catches." Is this normal?

Did you order the guide ring?

If the drum is rattling then your tire isn't on tight.
