Default Power Drive Charger Transformer

Okay 2002 DS, Powerdrive charger with (I forget the manufacturer) board to circumvent the carts OBC. It has worked fine like this for about 5 years. I recently noticed the positive lead on the battery (cable to solenoid, lights, charger, etc.) appeared to have overheated with burnt cable ends. So replaced the cable ends also noting battery terminal lead had melted a bit but battery terminal was solid. Did not use the cart and did not pay attention as to whether it had charged or not. It's been very cold so did not check on cart for a month or so. Noticed charge light was flashing so unplugged and plugged it in and charge would not come on. Figured I had low volts (check with multimeter) so jumped the charger and got 5 amps for about 30 seconds and then it went down to about one amp. Charger ran like that for about an hour. I then removed my jump and the charger continued to push about one amp for another hour then stopped. Battery's are still low so I again jumped the relay and am getting no amps. Both diodes are good, continuity only one way, I have continuity through both leads of the transformer on the intake side and continuity between both output leads but none between them which all is as it should be. I know I am pushing 110 volts into the input leads of the transformer but am getting zero out. My question is since I have 110 going directly into transformer but no output is there anything else to check or do. If that's it, anybody use a Schauer charger? Power drives are very expensive not to mention I would have to modify it. Checking prices on transformers seems like it's easier to just buy a whole charger. Is there any connection between charger problem and burnt cables? The terminal was not tight so it was not a loose connection short. Any advice is appreciated

I would consider getting a DPI charger if you don't use the OBC.
Do you have any pictures of your current modified charger?

Does your charger use a capacitor? If so and everything else checks out Ok, I'd replace it! Make sure to replace it with the exact one your charger calls for. I'm going through this same thing also! Just to add, don't assume anything is bad until you test it. I'd look up the particular charger you have and see if you can download a troubleshooting manual. This will give you a step by step test to eliminate components that are faulty. Doing this takes a little bit of time, but will end up getting you to replace what is bad or at least guiding you to what is bad. Your decision then will be to replace the charger or to fix it!

I know this is an older thread, but we can do a brand new PowerDrive 3 charger for $200 + shipping. Why bother fixing when you can get brand new?
