charger help

hi I'm new here
i just purchased club car from someone he told me that it was a 48v but i brought to the shop to get batteries for and the guy looked at the motor and it said the motor states that is a 36v on its tag but the cart has the three prong plug on it. What conversions would i have to make to make it charge with my exhausting charging unit.

I have a 36 volt charger for a ez-go cart , would it be possible to change out the wires on the interior of the machine and convert it to the plug into my club car. What would be the cheapest route to go before i would have to buy a new charger or setup.

Don't change anything just yet! It is entirely possible that the cart is 48 volt but the motor was swapped out to a 36 volt one for speed and torque.

How many holes are on top of each battery? 4 holes each = 48 volt and 3 holes each = 36 volt.

That's what I was thinking but that cart had no batteries in it when I bought it
I bought two carts from him one for parts and the part car had a 36v outlet plug and the other had the 48v outlet

Can you get the serial number from the tag above the go pedal?
That may tell us.

It looks like a older cart it has the coil system by the motor if that helps

If it has coils it is definitely a 36v. It's weird that is has the 3 prong 48v charge plug...

What do you want to do with the cart- cruising a neighborhood, golf, or off roading?

The 36v resistor setups go about 12 mph, which isn't terrible, not to mention the carts are pretty much bullet proof (no computers, controllers, etc).

I will be use around the neighborhood but will want to put a mild lift on it

Ok, resistor carts do not do well with lifts since they have little torque. I would upgrade to 48v since you have to buy batteries anyway, but keep your 36v motor. It will produce 33% more torque and speed on 48v. Scottyb at cartsunlimited.net knows everything about upgrades. I would check out his website...
