Default Club Car will only run with Charger Plugged in

I have a 95 club car. I have charged all the batteries individually and have 51 volts across the pack. I have replaced the solenoid and I have not done anything to the OBC. The solenoid will click when you turn the key on, then when you press the pedal the solenoid will click once and seems like it clicks back off and the cart will not move. I can plug the charger in and the cart will move with no problem. If I keep the pedal pressed just enough to keep the motor engaged and unplug the charger it will continue to move until I let off the pedal. So basically the cart will not move unless the charges is plugged up. I have also ran a jumper from the negative side of the battery pack to the solenoid and it engages and stays engaged when you turn the switch on, but the cart still will not move unless you hook the charger up. I know the lockout circuit in the OBC is supposed to keep the cart from moving when the charger is plugged up, but I bought this cart second handed so I do not know what was done before. I have had this cart working before, I just removed the batteries and put on another cart. I know have good batteries back on it and can't get it to move without the charger plugged up. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Well most people are more likely to lend a hand to someone they feel is human . Not just looking for help . Sure there are some very helpful people here , but the short time I have been here . They have a bit of a family feeling going on here. I have had some good conversations with people Ive never even met. Just tell us a little about yourself. Maybe some pics of the cart. Is this your first cart or your 50th 1.

What part of Miss. you from ?

Thanks for the help. I will tell you. I was a electrical engineer until about two years ago and moved into management. I started messing with golf carts about four years ago. I have taken a gas club car and a electric club car and swapped out the frames and lift from one to another about two years ago. I have bought a few and fixed them up, painted them and resold them just as a hobby. This one is a fixer upper also. I had this cart running and pulled the batteries off to put on another cart that I sold. it just puzzles me that it will only work with the charger plugged up. it acts like it is not getting a ground or negative to the system. that is the reason I jumped out the negative to the solenoid. That keeps the solenoid engaged, but nothing else works. I also have a gas club car that I have modified with KN system and cut the clutch down to get more torque. I have the modified springs in it also. it is a beast for climbing hills. This electric one is giving me fits right now. That is why I am reaching out for some help.

It sounds like you have a first year 48v cart. Do you have a shift knob or rocker switch for the FR? I don't think regen came out till 96 or 97, so it should be a lever...

Mechanical switches are easy to test with a meter, try to test and eliminate the easy stuff first. Sounds like the OBC my be confused, try and do a factory reset on it, unless you have it programmed a certain way it may be a good test.

beware I'm a newbie so I'm just pulling thoughts from my electrical background, not very experienced with these carts (yet)
