Default 2002 CC DS IQ controller and gear question?

Hey guys, I have a 2002 CC DS IQ with the
GE motor, I installed a magnet in the speed sensor and increased speed to about 20-21mph with a lift kit and larger tires (22x11x10). My question is, will changing the gears out to 8:1 gain me more speed and will i need a controller upgrade or is this not really worth the effort vs gain???

Thanks

Yes you'll get more speed, but you'll lose torque pretty badly and likely toast your stock controller pretty soon after the install of the gears. Would be best to upgrade the controller if you're gonna go with 8:1 gears.

Thank you! I am gonna pass on the gears and just run it the way it is then as the gain doesn't seem worth it. Thanks for the input.

I'm not entirely sure what controller would be best, I'd personally get with scottyb (site sponsor, carts unlimited) and tell him what you wanna do, and he can point you in the right direction.

I built a 03 IQ which a friend has now. Alltrax AXE 48400, AMD 7144 motor and he put 8:1 gears. Runs right at 30 with 205/50-10 tires

If you are thinking about gears you need to be thinking about brakes too. Especially with oversize tires
