2000 club car
OK so a while back, I had "nothing" (no backup buzz, no "clicking" when plugging/unplugging charger, and no go) This all happened after my "mini-me" and her friends had a full weekend of mud and water riding. A friend of a friend said my controller was "burnt up" from locked up brakes. $150 and rebuilt controller now I have all the things that were missing (in parentheses) above.
However, my go is much decreased. (have to assist/push up steep inclines) and the coil glows red hot when stressed - for lack of a better word. So is my regen brake stuck and if so what to do? I've read so much that I think I may have TMI for my own good. Awaiting all of your expertise...eagerly! |

Try to be a little more patient then just a half a day GG!
someone will be around to help you sort it out, it just may take a day or 2! I'm a gasser guy so, I can't be much of a help, but, the first thing I'd look at is the individual battery voltages under load. (while driving) |

Re: 2000 club car
It sounds to me like you may have several problems. Like Lockman1 says check the battery voltages. Each one and list the results. Can you roll the cart easy? If I understand you the controller has been changed, if so what speed code is it set at. Loose cables or bad connections. Are the coils clean, mud may keep them from working. Maybe you you could take some photos and post them.

Re: 2000 club car
Does your cart match the wiring in post #7?
http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...tml#post291982 From your description sounds like the "Regen" solenoid is not working and it is leaving the resistor coil in line with the motor the whole time, hence the red glow. Check that all wires are connected correctly to the solenoid, raise the cart and check that you are getting 48v across the small posts on the solenoid when the pedal is pressed. |

Re: 2000 club car
This is what my wiring looks like:
http://www.studmonkeyracing.com/forums/48vregen.jpg Brr! It was dark and kinda chilly but I got a few quick pics... The wiring looks correct, not all colors are as indicated on the diagram but they look to be going to the right places... I will do a more precise study in the warm sunlight tomorrow. And tonight I will have to google "how to use the voltage meter on golf cart batteries." And it isn't really hard to push the cart but sometimes you gotta bounce on the seat to get her going. lol Thank you all so much!! |

Re: 2000 club car
Well much later...I checked the batteries/voltages. Each battery checked between 8-9 volts parked and running. The solenoid had 48 volts while running. Coils cleaned. All cables?connections cleaned and secured.
A new thing that has occurred is that when the cart rolls for any distance, forward or reverse, (when taking my foot off the pedal) I get an intermittent beep like the backup buzzer. Maybe is an alert that cart is rolling but not in tow mode but just guessing on that. Someone suggested that I check the brakes. I have removed the back left wheel and drum(?). The drum did not come off easily. The pads are ok. Now the drum will not go back on over the brake pads. How do I adjust the pads so the drum will go back over them. It seems that this may have been the issue all along. I haven't even looked at the right wheel yet. I also saw a thread regarding turning one wheel while both were off the ground and that the other wheel should turn the opposite direction. That doesn't occur. Any comments/suggestions? |

Re: 2000 club car
First off... the beeping you hear while coasting.. it's the Regenerative Braking, (regen) and that's normal, it's supposed to do that!
(if you don't hear that.. you have a problem with your speed sensor) as for your brake drum not going back on, it may be possible that your drum is a little worn, and the auto-adjuster is just a bit too tight! There's an adjustable "star" looking wheel towards the bottom of the shoes, back that off a number of clicks (just enough to get the drum on), reassemble the drum, and wheels, Drive the cart in reverse, and while coasting in reverse, stomp the brake pedal a few times to readjust... rinse and repeat! |
