Ever heard of Charge Controller?

I have a 09 XRT 800e. 1 yr old batteries (4 ea 12v) and all was good. Then batteries would go down in 1/4 usual time. With charger connected (my extreme bad), I disconnected aux. power leads (lights, horn etc). it arced and the charger cut off. reset charger (checked it out and works fine) but now cart won't charge. Took it to shop and was told there is a 'Charge Controller' on top of motor which will have to be checked out. I've seen resistors packs and solenoids but not this one. Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Cart at shop now and awaiting a call anytime.

Maybe they are talking about the OBC (on board computer)?

Many thanx for the welcome and the info. I bet that is what we are talking about. Do you know if it is located above the motor in the rear section of the cart?

If so, do you have a preferred place for such a purchase?

It is between the batteries and motor and has the main negative cable running through it.
