Default Precedent with new trojans runs battaries down quick

Hey everyone got an interesting one here. 08 or newer precedent 48 volt with the 4 12 volt batteries setup it's a lifted cart with larger wheels on it. Runs fine for about 3 miles then it slows to a crawl like a speed sensor failure. I don't think it's the batteries honestly because this cart didn't have a long run time before this happened. The owner figured it was bad batteries and just put a new set in but still having the same issue. Any ideas?

I was wondering if the batteries weren't properly broken in but you don't think it is the batteries.

I don't know if they broke them in properly. They installed the batteries. The pack is maybe 2 months old now. For all I know they threw the batteries in and drove them around all day before charging them the first time.

Do you have to charge the batteries to go fast again? If not, then is not the batteries.

Yes you do. I know the pack is discharging. I'm just wondering if there is something that could be drawing the voltage down. bad controller or something else possibly. I have never heard of something like this but was wondering if someone else has.

Is it just a coincidence that this pack is bad in a cart that had a short run time to begin with or is it possibly something else is what i'm wondering.

The other thing is they have 4 carts all new batteries same batch. If it was a break in procedure problem wouldn't the other 3 have this issue not just the cart that had this issue before changing the batteries.

I know they are new batteries, but you didn't mention measuring their individual voltage (one at a time) during a "stress test" run up a hill. It almost sounds like you have a battery with a failed cell (that can happen to brand new batteries) and have been left running on the 3 3/4 remaining good batteries.

Newer batteries that can hold a fairly high voltage will sometimes perform well enough to hide the existence of their one bad companion.

Batteries were all the same voltage, low but the same when it showed up. Couldn't do any further test until the pack is fully charged and allowed to rest. Tomorrow morning i'll check the cells and do a load test (run cart into wall no hills in fl).

Just a thought, but instead of a severe discharge it could be improper charge.
Assuming you have a working OBC, is there more than one cable going from the pack negative to the controller?
