Noise coming from front end?
I have a 2002 CC DS with a 6 inch Jakes lift kit.
I use the cart on hard surfaces when it's not hunting season. Then, it goes off road. I am getting a popping or knock sound when turning the wheel and hitting a pump at the same time. On level ground and and under normal turning, all is well. Just getting that sound every so often and it's making my think I need to service the front end. Not positive, but I think it happens more during a RT turn.... Any suggestion on what to check or where to start? Bushings, tie rod ends, etc? BTW, pics or a diagram of the front end would be helpful too. Thanks!!!! |

Re: Noise coming from front end?
Probably bushings. Check the ones on the bottom of the spindle and spring. Might as well replace them all while you're in there....

Re: Noise coming from front end?
If you are like me, you probably didn't go back and re-tighten everything after driving around a bit after the 6" spindle lift was installed, per the instructions.
Mine was making a similar noise and I noticed the nut on top of the spindle was quite loose on both sides. I tightened them up and the noise is gone. To be specific, it was the nut being installed at time interval 4:11-4:19 on this video: I hope this helps. |

Re: Noise coming from front end?
If you don't have a spindle lift. Check the bolt that holds the front leaf spring on. Look at the bottom plate where the bolt goes through to hold the spring on and see if you can see any cracks in the plate.
My cart never see's the road and I use it a lot. I have a Jakes 6 inch lift and just had to deal with this. The noise drove me crazy, took the front lift off and found three cracks from the 3/8s hole that holds the front spring on. |

Re: Noise coming from front end?
Thanks Guys!!
I'm going to start with looking at the bushings. They seem cheap enough to start with... Now, just so I'm clear, this is a 6 inch, spindal, Jakes lift kit. It was installed by the prior owner. When you talk about bushings, are we taking about the lower leaf spring bushings? The ones that connect the leaf spring to the lower part of the spindal? see pic below... Also, what other maintenance should I consider at this point. Other than adding grease to all the grease fittings I can see, anything else? Thanks so much for the advice and the video! |

Yes spring bushing. Not too much going on in the front just make sure everything is tight
