Default 8 mph top speed - ????

Ok guys - my 48V 2006 cc iq ds has a GPS'ed top speed of 8 mph. I just got the cart a couple of months ago, it came from a Barefoot landing golf course near Myrtle beach, SC. Everything is stock on the cart except for the voltage reducer I added for lights that I added. And I added a back seat.

So where do I start? All the connections look good and tight, wires look fine. Batterys seems to charge properly and water level inside them looks normal. I assume this cart is set on the mid-grade speed setting from the factory. Is there anything in particular that I should check???....everything seems to be working properly.

Time for upgrades?

thanks

Start off by taking it to a CC dealer and have it "reprogramed" for a higher speed!
(IQ's are capable of reaching close to 19 MPH)
Golf coarse's tend to "dial them down" to prevent injuries!

It may cost $40 or $50 bucks... but in my eyes, it'd be worth it!

They can be turned down as low as 8mph. Sounds like a likely culprit

If you call a local dealer and talk to them about a few other parts you might need, they might be nicer about doing a programming job that takes seconds to complete. I know I always am.

if i have it "reprogrammed to "mode 4" setting, that's the fastest I think from what I've read on here - then adding tires and wheels will probably make it a couple of mph's faster -

maybe I can get 20-21 mph's out it with a 23-10.5-12 tire/wheel possibly?

hopefully faster than the lifted ezgo's around the campground....

Setting 4 will get you to where you want to be.

Question Re: 8 mph top speed - ????

What needs to be done to reprogram the cart? Is there special equipment (Tools) required? Seems like it must be pretty simple if it only tqkes a couple of seconds.

It takes a CC Dealer to take the serial number off your controller, send that info in to CC and receive a programming code to entry into your controller with THEIR special hand held programmer. They will charger you in the neighborhood of around $75-$150. You could also look into upgrading your motor for even more speed without doing the controller speed upgrade. Cost would be around $300.

If I upgrade my controller, will I still need CC for any kind of adjustments? From what I have read in this forum, I can make my own adjustments using a laptop and USB cord. Is this correct? I have an Alltrax 500 amp being delivered tomorrow.

No need for CC since you'll be using the Alltrax controller. Just setup the AllTrax the way you want with your laptop. Just make sure you place your Tow/Run switch to Tow and remove the main (-) lead from the battery, then the main (+) lead from the battery before doing any installation.
