Default Crown CR190 vs Trojan Ranger or Traveler

Here we go again on the battery subject. Most folks on this forum speak highly of Trojan and Crown. I understand Club Car outfits its new carts with 8v Crowns but if that is true I guess it could be because of the dollar, not so much quality. It looks like Trojan Ranger and Traveler are new technology? I can get the Crown for about $120 and the Trojan for about $125 so not a lot of difference. What do you guys think? Thanks for all replies.

I prefer Crowns , they have thicker lead plates , -however I would only put 6 volt set up in a cart not 8 volt set up - 6 volt will allways outperform a 8 volt in life span ( higher amp/ hr) and range

I have 4 12's that will be replaced and will go with the 6 8's because my cart will take them w/o modifications. These will be a great improvement over the 12v I understand. I hear what you're saying about the 6v and that seems to the consensus on this forum. Trojan apparently has a new website and they talk about their 8v battery as if has some new technology. I had wondered if their what appears to be new technology battery was any better than the Crown. Thanks for your comments.

The Crown is 190Ah and the Trojan Ranger is 204Ah. For only $5 difference ($30 total) The Ranger seems a no brainer to me, new technology or not.
I assume you were comparing the Cr190s to the Trojans.

I was. I know the amps are very important. But is there more to battery choice than amps? What about warranty? Service by the manufacturer? Longevity of the batteries? It's a big investment and I want to make sure I get it right......right as I can. I want the best bang for the bucks, whichever one I buy. Does Trojan get the nod over Crown in these areas? I don't have a clue at this point but hope to hear more. Thanks.

I have US Battery brand batteries which are the 2200 XC model and has an amp hour (20 hr rate) rating of 232 minutes. Paid $109 a battery locally with cores.

Yes, I saw that. I was trying to see how satisfied he is with the batteries overall.

So far I am satisfied, but I have been dealing with charger issues so I haven't really had a good full charge yet. I've had these since Jan, but this is my first cart so what I was thinking was just nature of the cart has ended up being lack of full charge. I use my cart in grass going from my house to the barn to feed our cows, house to the garden, or just general riding in the pasture. Cart only sees maybe 10% of gravel or paved surface travel.

My goal was to have a gas cart, but this 36v came to me free. I couldn't turn it down. I'm still on the look out for a gasser though just to have one.
