Club Car 2007 Precedent - testing OBC or resetting
We have four Club Car 2007 Precedents and we are not sure if the obc's in any of the cars are still operative - these car are infrequently used. Is there a simple way to test whether the OBC's are operative because, at the moment they do not let the Powerdrive charger recharge the batteries? It seems strange that all four obc's should fail at the same time - we have followed instructions from other posts to reboot or reset the OBC's - but without success. We have even replaced the four Trojan batteries in each car - still no recharge happening.
So can we somehow test if the obc's need replacing - pretty expensive thing to do if they are not the problem! Thank you |

Are you testing out of 1 charger, or multiple chargers?

Re: Club Car 2007 Precedent - testing OBC or resetting
Thank you for your quick response.
We have 4 Powerdrive chargers which came with the Club Cars - all purchased new in 2007. We have alternated the chargers with each Club car to see if that was the problem with each OBC. We recently purchased a new OBC and it works. But the reason we had to purchase it was that the previous obc "shorted" whilst the Club Car was in motion ie smoke, black powder and electric smell on wiring where it enters the OBC. We don't know how to test if the OBCs are operative (still work). They currently will not allow the Powerdrive to recharge the batteries - this has never happened before. Thank you |

. . . I assume you checked out all applicable fuses in the cart . . . open up one of your chargers and jumper out the relay as noted in below picture . . . if charger turns on normally when you plug it into cart, it indicates a problem with the OBC/charge circuit in the cart . . . do not leave this relay jumpered out because charger will not turn off automatically because you are bypassing the OBC . . .
