Club car motor magnet help
Hello, I bought a 08 club car with a 3.2 special service motor in it. It recently went into limp mode. The dealer I bought if from replaced the speed sensor and it had the same problem. After further inspection he tells me the magnet was broken. Well today a tech mailed me a picture of the motor pulled apart (pretty deep). From what I have seen I thought the magnet was on the end of the shaft just behind the speed sensor?
U Could someone help out this rookie and please tell me where the magnet lies? How does it attach? And how deep would the motor have to be pulled apart? Just doesn't make sense to me that it would be that hard to replace. |

Re: Club car motor magnet help
The speed magnet is on the end of the motor. Only the speed sensor needs to be removed to access the magnet. It attaches with one bolt. The motor does not have to be pulled apart or removed for this. If they replaced the speed sensor they should have seen if the magnet was broken.
It should take about 20 minutes to remove and replace the magnet. |

Thanks, he said the magnet also came with a bearing (as a kit). Would they then have to pull the motor apart? Thanks, again.

Re: Club car motor magnet help
The magnet can be purchased separately. BUT the bearing might need to be replaced if part of the magnet got into it because it was broken. But to say it only comes as a kit is wrong in my opinion. I would have them put in the high speed magnet since they have it out.

Re: Club car motor magnet help
Yes it comes as a kit, and yes the motor has to be disassembled. It's not a serious job. I can tear down, install new brushes and bearings, clean the armature, and install a new magnet in about 20 minutes.

The magnet only comes as a kit? You can't purchase it separately? I know the motor has to be disassembled for the bearing to be replaced, but can't the magnet be changed without disassembly? Is the 08 motors different? CartTrader |

Taking it down out isn't too bad, WORKING doesn't start until you're under there to put it back in, trying to hoist it up over your head and line up the $%#& splines.
