I will wire loom the cables to the motor when I go to town to get some more that size.

crimp or solder? Where'd you get the connectors?


I got a bunch of welding lead laying around and thinking of doing the upgrade on my DS.

Crimp, closed end & clad solid copper connectors, the crimp tool was 19$ and worked very well.
In my line of work all the connections are crimped, we just installed 4 of the Toshiba 1,000 H.P. pipeline pumps and that is what they did. Using medium voltage of 4,160 vac. The performance testing of crimped vrs soldering is negligible if done correctly, this is the industry standard. The cost of this vrs. some of these $250 cable sets is high IMO.

Which tool you got for $19 that does 2 AWG? The ones I've seen before for that large of wire is the hammer/vice crimpers. The hammer/vice ones are $40+
