Wink Advice on buying a precedent?

Hello,

I've been watching this forum for over a month and love this site. I am ready to buy a cart but need some advice from the pro's. So here it goes....

I am interested in owning a CC Precedent. I plan on do the following....lift kit, wheels and tires, custom paint, long top, rear flip seat, stereo, flip down windshield, speed mods....specifically I want this thing fast but it HAS to be dependable. I would like to do be able to 30-40 mph. I am looking for help on coming up with a wish list to make this happen. What motor, gearing, speed controller etc. should I get? Is there a complete kit I can purchase that icludes everything? I plan on doing all the work myself. Are there certain things I'm better off having a cart shop do? For instance if the windshield costs 100 and the shipping is 30 and they charge 150....for 20 bucks I'll let them put it on! Where am I likely to save the most money? Also, I'm planninng on purchasing a "plain" precedent...maybe a 2005 with new batteries etc. What do you think is a fair price?
Thanks for all help in advance.

Hunter

i,m not certain that a 48 volt cart is capable of 40+ mph with motor and controller and cable upgrade you may need to go to like 60 or 72 volts but someone here who has been down that road will know for sure.....i know i have seen many 48 volt carts upgraded to the hilt and they don,t get close to 40mph........i do agree make certain what you want cause this is worse than drug addiction when you get hooked and you will theres no going back........peice of advice if your married get the wife involved somehow so your life dosn,t turn into a living hell with the better half................lolol...........have fun and enjoy, i think nate will be able to shed some light on what you need do to get to 40+ mph....................

You would probably have to have a 36v motor engineered to fit your vehicle... That would help solve it.. Then you would probably also need gearing for high speed, which will reduce torque, so will bad with hills.. As mentioned earlier increasing voltage to 72 volts might help you solve it easier. G.E. motors are engineered to handle a little higher voltage safely.

A golf car is designed to stop at 12 mph so you need to see about getting four wheel hydraulic braking.

everything else is just simple accessories..
