Question Cart battery cables

Looking at replacing my battery cables on a 2003 48V Club Car. Seen options for both in 4 and 2 gauge wires. My cart is still stock motor and controller. That probably will change, but for now it is stock. Will a 4 or 2 gauge set work on stock components? Is 4 gauge big enough for a motor/controller change, say like Plum Quick motor.

Thanks all, learning a bunch from this forum...

Yes, you can go larger but not smaller wire.

If your planning on upgrading later down the road I would go with 2ga and be done with it, especially at over $200 for a set of cables. With 2ga your not as limited in my humble opinion. Check with scottyb, he sells really nice sets and there isn't a big price difference between the 4ga and 2ga sets.

Thanks for the quick response...

Will 2 gauge work with the stock components? It looks like the positive cable is a clear shot, but the negative goes through housing and such. I guess I need to mention I have not took anything apart yet, new to carts but I am good DIY type and worked as a crew chief on gunships in the USAF.

Thanks,

M

Go here >http://www.cartsunlimited.net/Batter..._Upgrades.html

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and you will see the onboard computer stud kit solution. Most 4g cable some 2g cable will fit through the OBC without the terminal and attached. Something like this will work if you want to make two cables.

Thanks for your time Sir. I have a 2003 Electric I.Q. Golf Car, 48 Volt Regen. Which kit works for that cart?

Kit # 12 in 4gauge

Kit #13 in 2g

The OBC stud kit is included in both kits
