My '91 DS Build
Since some of the goodies are going to be arriving shortly, figured I might as well start a thread for it.. Here are some before and after pics of the paint job I did this weekend..
This cart is mostly going to be used for cruising around the neighborhood and for my hunt lease up in Georgia.. Went with a Forest Green Pearl(everyone has camo, figured i'd be different). This was a rattle can job.. Wax/degreased everything, sanded her down.. 1 coat adhesion promoter, 2 coats of sandable primer, light sand and clean, 3 coats of forest green pearl and 3 coats of clear(all duplicolor products). The roof was also painted to match the body.. Scotch brite pad to scuff it up a bit, 1 coat adhesion promoter, 3 coats of paint, 3 coats of clear.. VOILA! Pretty easy except for the trim on the inside was a pain.. Tires/Wheels will be coming in next week.. Working on getting some headlights, controller and cables right now.. |

Looks good. Paint came out nice!
Are you going to convert to 48v? |

Re: My '91 DS Build
Eventually, yes.. I am going to keep the 36v motor for the time being and upgrade batteries to 48v to start.. See what kind of performance I get out of that and go from there.. I'd love to just throw in a plum quick but finances aren't there right now for all that.. Going to start small and work my way up until I feel I have enough power/torque for what i'm using it for..

Re: My '91 DS Build
If you put 48v to your stock components you are going to start a fire
The motor will be fine. I dont think anything else will be |

I plan on upgrading the controller, solenoid, cables and f/r switch BEFORE I convert to 48v batteries.. Does that make more sense? |

Lol yes that's better. www.cartsunlimited.net is the place to go for the conversion. I know you can piece it together etc etc but it really is better to buy a good kit that's been put to the test

Re: My '91 DS Build
I think ScottyB is better for the upgraded parts....That's who I went through when I completed mine. Nice with the new DPI charger you don't have to worry about unplugging the cart...Just check water once a month a unplug to ride. Plus with ScottyB its easier to ask questions on here or just call him.
The upgraded F/R switch isn't really needed till you go with a more powerful motor |
