1999 club cart 48v ?
I have a 1999 club cart I am going to lift(6") and tires(22"), my questions is what performance upgrades are avail. I am new to electric carts, it runs great on flat surface but slows down alot up hills, but never stops pulling, my batteries are less than 1 year old, also I have seen post where you are checking one connections to the next, is there a standard reading I should be getting, that I can check to make sure I am up to par. thanks

Re: 1999 club cart 48v ?
Typically electric carts slow on hills but, keep on going. The slowing you mention will worsen with larger tires...Upgrading all of the battery size cable in the engine compartment from 6g to 4g is the first step. A larger controller is the next real improvement and an upraded motor is the next...Happy carting

Re: 1999 club cart 48v ?
The controller manages the amount of power fed to the motor based off of a signal from the potentiometer attached to the accelerator pedal..
Here's a pic of a flooded 1996 DS that I'm taking apart to rebuild.. The controller is the black & silver box with the large wires to the right over the rear axle.. The other box to the left is the OBC for the charger.. Hope this helps... |

No problem...
There are guys here that are better versed in souping up these "sparkies" than me... This is my first rebuild of a sparky.. As far as cost.... The old saying about the gassers also applies here.. "Speed costs... How fast do you want to spend???" |

Re: 1999 club cart 48v ?
how would I stand with controller and all wires to 4 gauge then add lift and tires, I am having to do this in steps and not sure which to start with, was thinking , controller(have no clue which one, guess 500) and all 4 ga wires, take a break and go to controller, maybe motor later on and suggestions, in order, thanks--theres alot more to buying a cart than just buying a cart
