Default Club Car Carryall 2 : Charging starts and then stops!

Greetings!

I am new to this forum and this is my very first post here. Some searches on Google lead me to this forum and I decided to join it. Hope I will be helped.

My Club Car Carry all 2 at work has been having an issue with charging. As soon as it's plugged in AC, the charging starts and suddenly it stops.

I verified it by hooking up a multi meter on the battery terminals, the charging cycle starts and then suddenly stops.
I have even reset the OBC, as per the procedure but it didn't fix the problem.

The charger output is okay, but the voltages won't reach the battery. The reverse beep and movement of the car should stop during the charging but it's not happening while the humming sound is there and also there is voltage on the output of the charger.

I select the reverse mode and pulg in, while measuring the voltage on the battery, I can see that the beep stops (as it should) and voltages on an individual battery increases to some 6.8 ~ VDC but then it goes back to battery voltage (5.8VDC) and the beep starts. The transformer doesn't cut out.

Any ideas as where the problem is?

Thank you very much for your time and help.

Regards,

Scream

Sounds like one or more bad batteries, 5.8v is pretty dead. You may want to charge 2 batteries at the time using a car charger first, then measure the voltage accross each battery and look for the ones that did not come up to voltage. There is a sticky with the proper battery voltages so you can see what the each battery state of charge(SOC) is after the charge. You don't need to disconnect any of the battery cables to use a car charger, just don't use the onboard charger at the same time.

Yes. We have had the battery replaced, it seemed to work fine after that for a month or so and then it's again.
We were having the same problem with it and that's why they decided to replace the batteries.

Hello Again.

I have just checked the total voltages on the battery bank, it reads 34 VDC.[/B] I think the voltage is too low to trigger the charging cycle.

How do I bypass the security for some time so that it the battery has enough charging voltage for OBC to keep on charging?

Thank you.

Did you use distilled water to top off the batteries?

. . . you can bypass the OBC in the charger according to below diagram . . only do it for a short period of time because charger will NOT shut off automatically when the bypass is in place . . . you need to get above 38v for OBC to turn charge cycle ON . . .

Thank you very much.

I see, by doing so, I will be giving a continuous power to the inlet of the transformer, which in my case is already happening since my transformer is energized and I can read 60VDC on the output of the transformer.

Would it still be useful in my case to bypass as per the drawing? Thank you

Thank you for your reply.

I am not sure about it, since the batteries were replaced by someone else.

Is it required, when installing new batteries?

Thank you.
