Default Feel like I am missing something

I have a 2009 Club 48v. It ran fine for about a year then started having temporary moments when you had to push the throttle up and down a few times to get it to move. So I figured it would be some type of variable resistor connected to the throttle. Took in apart and see there has been an MOCR3 installed. After pricing them I decided to do some further testing before laying out the cash.

Next step check the solenoid.Took of the 2 heavy power leads off the solenoid.

When you press the throttle SOMETIMES the solenoid clicks and sometimes it does not. BUT, when it does click the motor runs? The 2 battery leads to the solenoid are off and taped.

What am I missing. Looks to me like I need a new MCOR but why is the thing running with no battery leads on the solenoid ?

. . . probably the micro switch inside the MCOR is failing . . .

Thanks Steve.
Do you find it strange that the motor runs with no bat leads hooked to the solenoid ?

. . the MCOR issue could be as simple as cleaning the connector on the pigtail coming from the MCOR . . .

. . . as for motor running, are you saying you can drive cart around with leads removed from large posts on solenoid?

I will try and get some pics today. Busy day baby sitting Gbabys 50 miles away.

I will check all the leads out of the MCOR. Good idea there was a lot of rust on the brake pedal mounting bracket. Lots of sand that has been wet in the compartment. Not too shocked at that I live on a lake that is 10 feet low so we drive on the "new" beach all the time.

Resistor is removed.

No I have the a rear wheels jacked up. It spins. Scared me.

Scottyb " wrong thread " ??. You have a great web site btw.

The only way I see possible for the motor to run with the two large wires disconnected from the solenoid is if you shorted the two of them together when you taped them together after removal.

OK Forgot how to handle pictures. This is the solenoid and you can see the power leads are off/taped and not taped together. If you turn the key and push the throttle it will click and the motor will run. Sometimes.
The next pics will show why I am really concerned.
