Default Bypass batteries???

Ok this is possibly the first of many questions in the future so thanks in advance. I am looking to buy a 95 electric 48 v (4-12v batteries)cc as a project. It currently has batteries that will not hold a charge so I was wondering if I could hook a charger up directly to the posotive and negative leads to test the other components. I have already hooked them directly to motor to test it and all was good. Thanks

. . . a 95 CC DS 48v should have 6 8v batteries, not 4 12v batteries . . . are they golf cart batteries? . . .

Yese you can bypass the batteries. Make sure its a 48v cart, not 36v.

Well now you all have me scared. The serial number suggests that it is a 95. Anyway to verify that it is a 48 not 36. Serial number is a9540 465841

yes, they are 12v batteries . . . however, those are not golf cart batteries . . they are glass mat batteries designed as/for high rate emergency battery backup (UPS - Uninterruptible Power Supply) . . . what style charger plug receptacle in on the cart? . . . is it round or rectangular? . . round would be a 48v cart . . .

Yes it is a 3 prong round charger. Thanks for your help. I am going to shop for 4 new 12v golf cart batteries this weekend. Thanks again
