HELP solve my runtime issue!!
Hey guys, Im really hoping ya'll can help me with my runtime issue cause its driving me CRAZY!!! I built this thing last year as follows
2005 Club cart IQ 48v Alltrax 500 amp dcx Allbrite 180-93 solenoid D&D #170-502-0002 motor 4ga wires Interstate 170Ah batteries( I know that ah is low but 4 miles?!?!) 23" tires When i built the cart a year and a half ago brand new i got about 4 miles to a charge (down to 30%). Over the next year and a half that run time went down until my batteries all had dead cells at about 2 years old and I was getting about 1.5 miles run time. Now over this time I was pretty good about checking water and keeping on the charge.(hard to no let go below 50% when your friken run time sucks so bad. Now I put Brand new batteries in that interstate warrantied and although my torque is back SAME RUN TIME as original about 4 miles. My question is what it the world other than batteries(since they are new) could be causing this. I have read mixed reviews about that motor and wonder if that is the problem; it just sucks. Thanks for the help guys!! |

Re: HELP solve my runtime issue!!
It may be a lot of work, but if you still have your stock motor you could put it back on and see what you get. Maybe you could borrow one if not. I'm sure you have already checked brakes etc.

Re: HELP solve my runtime issue!!
That is a REALLY good idea … its so strange… its almost like that motor is just horribly efficient….. It makes sense to me that it would be the motor before the controller?!

Re: HELP solve my runtime issue!!
do you thing the 23" tires will have a big run time effect if using the stock motor? ( prob not as big as whats going on now!!)

Re: HELP solve my runtime issue!!
The tires will cause a loss of some torque, but the controller you have should help on that. The stock motor may not hold up very long but it will give you some ideal if your other motor is bad.

Hunting cart dude,
Just dont stall out your stock motor and you should be good for a while. I ran a stock motor with a 500 amp for over a year. Steve |

Re: HELP solve my runtime issue!!
Your last set of batteries were low capacity models..... your new batteries are not yet up to full capacity potential.
The hi torque motors do draw additional amperage. |

Re: HELP solve my runtime issue!!
Wow put the old motor in and I have almost as much torque and def more speed than the d&d... And the run time is way back up!!!! I knew something was up with the d&d motor... It ran like that from day one from the factory! It been two years so I'm sure they won't help me out with it.
What do you guys mean by stalling out? Didn't know you could stall an electric cart. Also is it ok to run stock motor with this high amp controller and bigger tires or will it hurt that motor? |

Re: HELP solve my runtime issue!!
Also to Scotty b... They are 170ah which I understand is a little low but the trojan t875 is only rated at 5 ah higher and is the most pop batt out there ... Would that really make a big diff?
