It would be kind of a pain though to flip two switches and one is under the seat.
I've done some searching on here and some have used brass marine key switches.
I'm leaning toward that route, to keep it to one switch.

Yea I'd personally just replace the key switch, I posted a link to that website, I'd make a call to them explain what you're doing and go with it. They make high quality key switches for this type of application I'm a buy once type guy and be done with it.

I try to do it that way too, but for some reason it doesn't always work that way...

I am liking the looks of this now, especially with the 3 positions; I could wire lights on third position.
I wonder if the third is a momentary position or if stays there. It says OFF/ON/ON, so I'm thinking it's not momentary.

Are these Harley switches waterproof?

I think I may go with the barrel switch, I asked the seller if they were waterproof and had a unique key and he said yes to both. Still need to find out if it's momentary or not.

It is Off/ON/ON and for a 12v Harley, you can get those on the website I posted but just Off/ON two position and probably a higher voltage rating and probably about the same price.

I would use the third position for lights, so it would be all off, cart on lights off, cart on lights on.

Club Car makes one that is a direct replacement for the factory switch.

humm, you would have to jumper the cart wire across the two on's and make sure the amperage rating can handle it, otherwise you'll burn it up. Also the voltage for the lights isn't the same as the cart signal wire. You could use a relay though, this would work.

I think the big issue as to why he wants to replace it is to get away from the one key the that can be used for most all club carts, security reasons.
