Best F/R switch for Precedent
First post after becoming new owner of a 2011 Club Car Precedent with PH prefix in serial number. It has been lifted with 24" tires, overall runs well. Squeaks a bit when getting started, coming from the front end. Zerk fittings appear dry, so I will need to get out the grease gun. I think the cart came from a wholesaler in South Carolina.
The steering pulls a little to the left and the steering wheel does not return to "zero" when going straight, but again not major issues. My main problem is the F/R switch. It does not always engage in Forward. I have to put in reverse and then switch back and push down firmly. The switch is also in a location and of the type that my 6 year old kid's legs frequently come in contact with it while riding, switching to N or R. What is the best switch that gives a bit more resistance without modifying over to a pendulum-type EZ-GO switch? |

Re: Best F/R switch for Precedent
Ramptester welcome to the forum. There are some great member's who can answer any question! The Precedent is a great cart to own. Your F&R switch can really be moved anywhere you want to. I'm not aware of a Precedent F&R replacement other than another stock one. I have seen some folks turn there F&R upside down that helps with an accidental bump. I would take your F&R out and clean it up to see if that helps it going into fwd. Also check the wiring connections for it. Remember! always put your cart in TOW mode when working on it. Good luck and lets see some pics of your cart.

Re: Best F/R switch for Precedent
My cart not a precedent but an IQ so I have the rocker switch also. In the process of doing a wrap on mine and since the switch is out I'm going to move it to the steering wheel I think.
Never had trouble with it getting bumped, just don't like reaching down to switch especially when the cart is full. I wouldn't even consider changing it to the old style. I don't think the switch itself is anything special it's about the same as boat switches. |

Re: Best F/R switch for Precedent
Ramptester, that switch is less than $20 and I would bet that is your issue. Make sure to flip the run tow switch to tow before messing with it. As for it getting bumped, like ca said, flipping it upside down is an easy fix.

Re: Best F/R switch for Precedent
I moved mine up to the steering column. Just temporarely secured it with tape but will make a little housing for it eventually.
I love it there, can't wait till I get used to it, cuz I still keep reaching down for it. LOL |
