PowerDrive 3 Ampmeter faulty
Looking to find a replacement for the ampmeter on the front of my powerdrive 3 precedent charger. My charger works fine just finally getting around to look for a replacement gauge for the front... Mine constantly jumps. Can someone point me in the right direction?
Thanks |

Re: PowerDrive 3 Ampmeter faulty
could be bad but its just a coil and if it's bouncing it sounds like ac is getting through, replace the diodes first. and make sure its hooked up on the dc side of the diodes.

Re: PowerDrive 3 Ampmeter faulty
Just change the meter, the powerdrive 3 has a bridge rectifier, if a diode was shorted, it would cause a short across the transformer secondary. The diode would either burn or the breaker would pop, but there is no way for AC to get thru the batteries.

Re: PowerDrive 3 Ampmeter faulty
I doubt very seriously you need an ammeter. The diode strips on the back of the charger or rectifier (two different styles) have probably failed. I see it every day of my life. It's very common. Can you take a picture of the back wall of the charger? I'll point you in the right direction.

Re: PowerDrive 3 Ampmeter faulty
It looks like it is the newer model 26580, that one has 2 diode/heatsink assemblies.
You said it charges fine, Are you batteries getting up to 60+v at the end of the charge cycle? Edit: I will defer back to TahoeDawg... |

As far as charging, My batteries always get back up to the 50.9v once done, takes about 4-8 hours just guessing. Purchased the red top US batteries last July. |

Also any ac to your batteries is very distructive. |
