Default Floor pan in ( finally )

Well FINALLY got around to beefing up the floor on my 88 (with 95 front end ) I tried to get some aluminum cut here local to put in there but they want an OUTRAGIOUS price for it (over a hundred bucks) .....seriously thought about stealing a sign off the interstate (my tax dollars right ? ) naw , not my style .....but I did find some old campaign signs up in top my garage that I forgot about and cut those out (doubled them )......and RIVITED MY BUT OFF ALL DAY!!!.....ran out of rivets and need more but you get the idea.....was a little trickey hitting the frame rails here and there but its stout as heck and no more flex....need to get a new mat now , has anybody had any luck installing a mat OVER the pedals ? I HATE to have to take those out and I thought I remember somebody sayin it would go over them , but looking at the old one I don't see how....

You can put a new mat over the pedals, but you HAVE to cut a line between the two holes for the pedals if you do it that way. It is a heck of a lot easier than taking the pedals off though, that job stinks!

New floor looks good, by the way!

You don't have to take the pedals out and you don't have to cut anything. Turn the mat upside down on the floor. Spray the heck out of WD-40 all over the back of the mat. Slowly work it over the brake pedal and slide it all the way down. After it's on the brake, twist the entire mat about 45 degrees counter clockwise and wrap it around the accel pedal. Use a large screwdriver to help wrap it. A small one will tear the mat. Once you've wrapped it around the accel pedal, slowly slide it down until it's underneath it. Rotate mat 45 degrees clockwise and sit it down. You're done. I guess I need to video this and post it. It may be a while before I can get a chance though. DS cars are a rarity these days.

Dang , I don't want to cut a new mat ......so the "line" to cut would be from the bottom of the brake hole to the top of the go hole ?......I layed under there it does look like a pain to take out the pedals.....maybe cut it and black silicone it back together....or maybe just take one pedal out....

EDIT: didn't see your post T-Dawg as I was typing mine .....THANKS!

Just did a rubber diamond plate mat on a build. Used the old mat as the template and put it on how tahoedawg said

Yep. I bet we've got 1500-2000 cars on the yard. Maybe 4 or 5 of them are DS cars...
