98 DS Club Car charging problems
Hi,
I have been scanning the forums for as much info as I can get on this issue. Basically, up until two days ago my cart has always charged fine with no problems. Now, when I plug my charger in nothing happens. Usually it takes 5-10 seconds and the hum starts and you know you're good. Well, this doesn't happen anymore. I did open up the charger (Power Drive II 22110) and bypassed the relay and the charger began to work. So from what I have read I either have a bad relay in the charger or possibly the OBC is bad. I have checked all the fuses that I can find and they look ok. I also tried resetting the OBC per the sticky thread and that didn't seem to help at all unless I unplugged the wrong negative cable?? Can anyone please help me narrow this issue down so I know what to order and replace if anything at all? I wish I had another charger to try but I don't. Thanks a lot! |

Re: 98 DS Club Car charging problems
I saw this earlier and I am assuming it is a bad OBC. Just wish I had another charger so I could be sure the relay in the charger is ok. Is the OBC a tough part to replace and there any good guides that explain how to replace?

Re: 98 DS Club Car charging problems
disconnect the cart’s gray wire at the fuse near the charger receptacle. Then using a jumper wire, connect the receptacle side of the fused connector to the cart’s negative battery terminal. This will energize the charger’s 48V relay. If the charger doesn’t come on, it could be bad connections, wiring or charger relay.
if charger works with OBC bypassed the OBC is bad other wise it is the relay you by passed before |
