Unhappy club car electric keeps charging

I have a 2002 club car DS. It has new batteries and when charger is plugged in it will never drop below 10 amps. After running 18 holes of golf, when charger plugged in it will show 20 amps and eventually drop to 10 amps, but never shut off.

Have you tried a different charger at all?

During the break-in procedure, keep an eye on the water levels. It can take 12 hours or more for the 1st few Charging cycles. These extended charge cycles may evaporate some of the water. ( use distilled water only )
i have seen them take 18hrs

New batteries, 2 different chargers, same results.... it looks like you are not charging all batteries. Verify the charger socket wires are connected to the correct posts on the first negative and last positive of the pack.

This cart has the OBC. Could this be causing the problem?
I have never had one that would not stop charging, but would only not charge.

I usually try to keep quiet, but cart owners need to know certain things. Your charger will charge for a long time.....up to or near 16 hours....especially on new batteries. They will eat up the water durring these long charges. This process will last for several charges until they are broke in.

Please go read the link provide by "Crash Test Dummy". From a long distance evaluation, you don't have a problem.

If after 16+/- hours of continuous charging and your cart keeps charging, look into other areas of what could be a potential problem.

I was doing some more research on this cart and found that it has had an Alltrax SPM controller installed along with a new motor. The controller is a spm48600 controller. Talking to the owner, it did not do this before controller was installed. Also I've been charging and operating the cart for the last two weeks and left the charger plugged in for at least 20 hours and it still will not shut off. Also checked battery wiring and charger is charging 48 volts, another words batteries are hooked positive to negative all the way through for 48 volts, and positive charger plug is to positive and negative goes through OBC to negative on Alltrax controller.

I don't see any mention of how high the charging voltage goes during the charging cycle. It should cut of somewhere above 61 volts and maybe as high as 65volts. What is your reading during the charge cycle?
