Default 2000 48v DS Amp hour reccomendations for 12volt

New to carts, recently picked up a 2000 48 volt DS. I noticed that the amp hour ratings seem much lower on the 12 volt batteries than the typical 6 or 8 volt batteries. I can not find take off or maintaining draw for this cart, so trying to calculate what I need for off and on use during an 8 hour day is impossible. I did find some decent used 12 volt 80 amp hour batteries for $75 each, just don't know how long they'll last during a day at the track.

I would convert to 6 8volt batteries for longer run time, if that's what your trying to accomplish. Other wise I would not recommend buying used batteries at all. No telling how they were cared for. And how long they have been sitting. That's just my personal thought.

Definitely go with 8v for run time. That is what your cart is setup for as well...

Thank you both for your input. As initially stated I have very little info on the cart and I have searched for what the OE battery run time would give me. It's impossible to calculate when not knowing the draw coming off this motor. Any idea what I would get on this cart w/ an 80 amp hour 12volt as mentioned vs a 200 amp hour 8 volt set up? Thanks again.

Multiple the AH rating of the battery by the pack voltage of your system. This will give you the number of Kwh's that the batteries hold. For example a 170AH battery pack will store about 8 KwH's. Don't know the hp of your cart but a 3.3Hp motor uses 2500watts. That means that you would have a little over 3 hours of run time. You wouldn't want to run it down to zero SOC so an hour and a half to two would be a good estimate. Also a lot depends on how you drive a lot of stopping and starting would run the battery down even quicker. Like a car its highway mileage and in town mileage. What I calculated is highway mileage.
One last thing. Stay away from the 80AH batteries

Great info and explanation, thank you. I will be taking the others advice and looking for higher AH 8 volt batteries.
