Default Weak club car

I have an 04 ds 48v. Not an IQ.
It has 6 new batts last august. Problems I'm having is....
Very slow I'm guessing around 12 mph, just a guess. And the other issue is. At my campground there is some hills. When I climb them it slows cart down to where it wants to stop. Any ideas to help this cart? Thanks

Could be that you're experiencing normal stock performance, but without some solid MPH numbers and some under-load voltages it's kinda hard to tell. 12 MPH, in stock form, is like the song Hot Rod Lincoln: "That's all there is and there ain't no more." Also, depending on the severity of the hill, slowing way down to almost a crawl is normal.

To speed it up and gain torque, be ready to spend some $$$. As the old hot-rodders say: "speed costs money, how fast do you want to go?"

It sounds like you have a series cart. There aren't any speed codes, so like yellow said, it may just be stock performance. I would try to do a load test on the batteries to make sure there aren't any bad cells...

Any suggestions on fixing the problem? Of course cheaper the better. More concerned about going up hills.

Batteries first. Hook your DVM to the main leads on the pack and drive up a steep hill. The pack shouldn't drop below ~44v. If it does, you may have a bad battery(s) in the pack.

I wouldn't specifically call it a problem, rather just the stock design of the cart. Like Jake said, a load test on the pack and on each individual battery is a great place to start to make sure the batteries are in good condition with no weak cells.

Also, to fix the slowing while going up hills you're gonna need torque, which means more amps to the motor. This entails a new controller, HD F/R switch and solenoid, and heavy gauge cables. Why not just a higher amp controller and be done? Because you won't gain anything because the other components have to pass all that amperage and they just won't do it well. Check out cartsunlimited.net and get with Scottyb, he can tell you exactly what you'll need.

I'll try that this weekend. Batts are new though.

Even new batteries can have a bad cell, I've seen it.

I bought new batteries when I got my very first cart (interstates) and the cart started shuttering. Turned out one of the new batteries had a bad cell. Exchanged it and cart ran great...
