Solenoid
What is the function of the left solenoid on my 1999 DS. The one with the white cables. I know the cables go to the motor and the solenoid is a switch to open and close connection of the cable to the motor. On my 2003 IQ the white goes direct from controller to the motor. Is the 99 controller not able to turn power on and off to the white cable? Is there another reason? Also does the coil reduce the voltage for reverse operation?

Re: Solenoid
I believe it's the coil and solenoid for the regen braking on your cart. Dont know how it functions, but I'm pretty sure that's what it's for.

Re: Solenoid
I have unhooked the speed sensor. Could the solenoid be removed, and connect white cable direct to motor?

Re: Solenoid
That is a question for someone with more regen cart knowledge than me. I've heard of folks disabling the regen, but I'm not sure about removal of parts.

Re: Solenoid
Yes, you can remove and bypass the solenoid

Re: Solenoid
Thanks, I was thinking that would save two connections and some cable. I'll just seal the activation wires in heat shrink in case anyone wants to put it back on.

Re: Solenoid
By-passing the left solenoid eliminates the "Dynamic Braking" and Regen braking should still work, if you also remove the speed sensor Regen Braking is eliminated, so if you plug the sensor back in you will get Regen braking.
