Question Battery charging issue (scarey)

97 Cub Car DS// Batteries are late 09's. 48 volt

Batteries were stone dead when I purchased cart. Water was below plates so I added distilled water to correct level. CC charger would not come on, so I used car charger to get them started. When I plugged up factory charger ( I have 2 and both did the same thing ) it came on, but only showed 5 amps. Left charger on several hours and tested batteries with meter....they were all stabilized at 6.7 volts. Then I left the charger on overnight. When I checked, the system had 48.1 volts....each battery is showing 7.9 volts, so they are now charging evenly. ..male plug that goes into cart was quite warm..needle on charger meter was straight up showing 10 amps. .I did a disconnect and the red light on the dash flashes ..staying on several seconds during intervals. Note: amps on charger are increasing the longer I leave it on. Cart will move, but barely. Should I replace the batteries??? Or should I continue to charge till the charger shuts off ? Need some good pro advice here. Thanks

From my experience I think you would be better off to go ahead and replace the batteries now and save time and trouble. If you get those to charge they will not hold up long enough to go more than a mile most likely. Go time to clean the battery area.
