Default I am sooo confused

I'm working on a '96 cart for the rv park we staying at they said it has run fine untill the end of last year then would't go up the hills.

Checked batts and replaced one, still the same. Now the part I'm confused about is that it is a 48 volt cart and it only has 36 volt batt set up??? Also when I'm looking at the wiring shematic it shows a 5 wire plug coming from the spd control pot . this unit has a 5 wire and a 3 wire plug, the 3 wire is pluged in , but there is no place to plg in he 5 wire. Would running on 36v mess up the controler? What next? Thanks

Post the serial number. Post a picture. What controller is in it? What throttle?

Your post is like calling the doctor and saying "I'm sick, what's next?"

take 2 aspirin and call back in the morning

If it's a 48v running on 36v you are creating alot (ALOT) of unwanted heat by running on such low voltage. All of the electrical components would be in jeopardy. How do you know it is a 48v cart?

Wow There's so many things wrong here I don't know where to start...

Fix the voltage issue first and then we'll see what kind of problems still exists. A 48 Volt cart needs 48 Volts worth of batteries.

Which style potentiometer do you have? A picture would be outstanding here. An MCOR (didnt come out until 2001) would have a three pin and a two pin plug, which would equal five total wires. Your car may have been converted to an MCOR... I need a pic to help with this.
